About
Editorial mission & author
Book of Loads is a small publication for freight brokers and the people who work with them. It writes about lane economics, surety filings, FMCSA data, and the quiet operational stuff that nobody covers because it doesn't trend.
The voice is opinionated and concrete. Articles name specific bond forms, specific FMCSA tables, specific lanes. If a piece can't say something specific, it doesn't get published.
About the editor
Mike Gehring drove freight for years before getting into the data side. Most freight-tech tools are built by people who've never sat in a truck. Book of Loads is what happens when you flip that — someone who's driven the lanes also reads the FMCSA filings nightly.
Indiana-based. Reachable at info@bookofloads.com or via the contact page.
What we publish
- Insights — evergreen articles on broker operations, surety basics, FMCSA data, lane economics, and the things you only learn after you've been in the seat.
- Reports — longer-form downloadable analyses, published a few times a year. Data-heavy, opinion-light.
What we don't do
- Sell ad placements or sponsored content.
- Share your email with anyone if you subscribe.
- Use stock photography — every image on the site is from a personal archive.
- Pretend AI wrote it. Drafts are typed with assistance, but everything ships under a real human's byline and gets a real human's eyes on every claim.
